The Brockville Museum aims to encourage families and children to engage in our past, whether they’re visiting on a weekend outing or participating in a special program. We want kids to feel welcomed and to have an enjoyable museum-going experience. We are pleased to offer a number of different museum experiences for children, depending on how and with whom they visit. If you have any questions about any of our programs, please contact us.

Discovery Kits

Explore the museum through play and hands-on activities with the museum’s Discovery Kits! Filled with engaging and interactive exhibit-based activities, Discovery Kits enhance the museum-going experience for children visiting with their families. The Discovery Kit Program is entirely self-directed and is included with admission by donation. Please inquire at the front desk. Kits are available on a first come, first served basis.

Two kits are currently available (with additional kits being adding later in 2024):

  • Backpack: launched in 2023, the Backpack is designed with activities for children 7-12, with support of the adult visiting with them.
  • Suitcase: NEW (launched February 19, 2024), the Suitcase promotes play-based exploration and is designed for children 6-10, with support of the adult visiting with them.
  • Messenger Bag: New (coming July 2, 2024), the Messenger Bag promotes a relaxing and slower museum visit, and is designed for teenagers 12-17 to do independently or collaboratively with the adults visiting with them.

A new auxiliary sensory kit is also available. In order to ensure availability for those who most need it, the sensory kit can be reserved in advance by contacting the museum.
